LEUVEN, Belgium — The branding agency CBX is using data migration software by the data management company Datadobi.
CBX implemented DobiMigrate for network-attached storage (NAS) and object data to migrate its distributed data storage infrastructure, according to Datadobi this month.
The data storage platform and associated software that CBX had relied on was out of date. No additional firmware, patches, or upgrades would be made available, and warranty support would soon come to an end.
CBX decided to remain with the storage vendor and upgrade to the vendor’s newest storage platform for increased capabilities and heightened security.
The agency needed to migrate the NAS data from its data storage environments to the new ones. The data migration involved the entirety of CBX’s client and internal business production data housed across two dispersed locations in Minneapolis and New York City.
CBX’s technology vendor SHI recommended Datadobi and its DobiMigrate migration software for NAS and object data.
After the migration, CBX has expanded storage functionality, including enhanced data security and support for cloud tiering.
“We couldn’t allow even a moment of downtime or loss of data availability of any kind,” said Don Piraino, IT manager, CBX.
“The migration involved every single piece of CBX data. … We finished in weeks, rather than in months.”
Piraino called the final cutover “really smooth,” with no impact on the team’s work.
